A cute little animation sent to me by a friend.
Well, so much for an increased presence here. I've been busy, obviously. Let's see where to begin...
I failed to watch the transit last Tuesday morning. When my alarm went off, I looked at the clock and wondered why I had set it so early (too early), and quickly went back to sleep. Oh well. Most people in Arizona had little interest anyway, as we had to watch remotely.
Tuesday night, I watched the first episode of Shada. A good audio, but inadequate animation. I'll post a review once all the episodes reair.
Wednesday, Monte stopped by to make a new character for Steve's game using my D&D Character Generator Demo. Unfortunately for him, I have v1.0, Hasbro no longer supports the 1.1 and 1.2 free upgrades, and he needed the magic item purchasing ability from 1.2.
Thursday, I stopped by Wayne's to finish my character for Bailey's camapign. I managed to get master psionics, but lack the intelligence to qualify for the mind mage class. Oh well.
Friday, Rusty finally ran his Shadowrun 3.0 campaign. We got such a late start we had what is basically a prologue. In it, we all had a dream in which we saw each other as we entered a mall from different directions. In the mall, the center courtyard was a writhing mass of snakes. We fought them off, but like a hydra they became more numerous the more we slew until we all eventually fell to their might. Then, we woke up.
Saturday, Steve canceled his game to hold a going away party for his roommate Dustin (and a former player in the campaign). He's moving to Vegas, so wish him luck. He's getting a job offer that he just couldn't refuse, much to the dismay of his girlfriend. At the party, I saw bits and pieces of Chasing Amy, an interesting movie. Apparently, some people think that Afleck's character is much like Dustin. This I find hard to believe, because the character was even more naive, oblivious, and lacking in common sense than I have been accused of being. Dustin never struck me as the naive type.
Sunday, I went to Ben Avery Shooting Range where a Game & Fish Range Officer taught me some gun shooting basics. I disappointed my friends when I admitted that I wasn't having fun. I doubt I'll ever bother to own one, but it can never hurt to understand the basics of how a gun works, even if I only use it in role playing.
Afterwards, Bailey ran his Paladium campaign at my place. Webb, Weirsch and I all had new characters to be introduced to the campaign. The spirit of the forest came to each of us in a vision and directed us to where we were needed. When we arrived, we discovered that a flying boat was being manned by a man using a wand to transform the living forest into a dead and decaying one. Andrew's wolfen knight took on the bad guy long enough for my changling warlock to come and assist. We then freed the air elemental trapped in the ship. At this point, when the loot was being examined, Wayne's elven mind mage found the villain's journal contained notes of a dwarven mine with vast magical treasures. So, of course, he chooses not to reveal the next adventure to anyone, demands complete and utter control of the party without giving any incentive for the new party members to stay, and otherwise botches his leadership skills. Luckily, the players know that he is Bailey's designated team leader and (like pulling teeth) we managed to lure Wayne's character into revealing the information in the journal so that the new characters had a reason to remain with the old.
After that struggle, we ran into a human hermit, living off the land. We shared a meal, he gave us directions to the mine, and we went our separate ways. Further along, a giant albino snake grabbed Wiersch's human longbowman and nearly crushed him to death before we realized he was gone. One quick rescue later, we did what we could for him and waited for him to come out of his coma. A day later, we awoke and spent the next day fletching arrows with the knight's assistance. Meanwhile, the Webb's kraken ranger and my changling warlock went to scout out the mine entrance. Everything seemed secure, so the ranger set up a tripwire so we could return to basecamp.
Afterwards, I rushed off to mass, where Father Milt had returned. I gave a quick lesson in the history of Saint Paul to Wiersch and Wayne before they left. Father discussed the importance of the Body and Blood in his homily, a good one as usual.
Back at home, I tried doing E-mail and the like but fell asleep at the computer. I woke up near 23:00 hours, turned FOX 10 on so I could watch SG-1, tehn fell asleep until the last fifteen minutes of SG-1. After a couple of short scenes I was back asleep until 2:00 hours. So much for that, I was obviously too tired from a full day.
Monday, I spent my paycheck on drycleaning (ready for pickup since Christmas!), groceries, and a wedding card for my cousin. I actually read a bunch of E-mail, but didn't read any messageboards or Web journals.
Tonight I watched Shada part two and typed this up before becoming too tired to continue. I guess Steve's campaign recaps will wait for another day. Night everyone!
