Day: Friday 27 September 2002

  • OK, I'm back.  I don't know what was wrong with their dial-up, but I'm not going to ask.  It'll be better for my mental health that way.  Unfortunately, Yahoo! is still unusable.  I'm going to have to E-mail them this weekend when I get a chance.  Ugh.

I see that anwelei is the latest to go black.  You go woman!  Black is where it's at.  Soon, all of Xanga will be black.  Mu ah hah hah hah hah hah hah!!

Well, today was a weird one.  Last night, Bill called asking me to ask Jay to confirm that Doctor Who night would be at Bill's place.  I left such a message on Jay's V-mail.  Yet today I get several V-mails of my own.  First, Bill says that he had told Jay to pick me up, but that Bill would be picking me up after all (for a small gasoline money fee).  Next, I get a V-mail from Bill saying that Jay will be picking me up, the night will be at Jay's place, and that Bill wouldn't be showing up.  That was followed by a V-mail from Jay asking me what I wanted on my thin crust pizza from Papa John, and that Bill would not be coming to Doctor Who night.  Then, Monte shows up unannounced at work when I was closing, hoping to leach money off of me in the disguise of gasoline money for giving me a ride home.  Kim & BJ were waiting outside, and Mike invited himself to Doctor Who night.  So, Jay, Kim, and Monte watched Doctor Who with me at Jay's place in the end.  A complete reversal from what Bill had said twenty-four hours earlier.  Talk about weird.  We ended up watching Four to Doomsday and leaving our theme for next week. FD is about Monarch, an alien would-be conqueror and despoiler of Earth who was defeated by the fifth incarnation of the Doctor, Adric of Alzarius, Nyssa of Traken, and Teegan of Earth.  It was a good storyline even if it didn't follow the theme Bill had set up for us.

Monday Bill asked me to run a Hollween one-shot RPG session this year.  Tonight Jay asked for the same.  People really loved that night I ran a AD&D 2/e Holloween one-shot.  I'd like to offer them something that fun again, but how do I do it without copying myself?  They don't seem to understand that.  Every year since they ask for it again.  When is the sequel ever as good as the original?  I may eventually run a Holloween game again, but it'll have to be so amazingly different that there can be no comparisons.  I don't like to repeat myself.

Tomorrow night we shall resolve the interparty conflict between the clerics and the rest of the party over what should occur to the succubus we rescued from the Abyss.  I hope it can be resolved without having to resort to rolling up a new character for myself.  I'm rather fond of Squigbarm Khobaupl, water genasai of Eldath.  We shall see.  We shall see.  Wish me luck!

    Currently Playing: Go-Go Party

I have no idea what I was thinking when I purchased this CD.  It’s not bad, but its not really what I perceive as my style.  I both want to listen to something–anything–else, yet still want to listen to it.  That’s a very weird and confusing feeling.

I don’t know when I’ll be posting this entry to Xanga.  They’ve done something again to their computer.  I don’t even want to know what.  Two more months–that is all I have to wait.  Then I can have this (my own computer) hooked up.  I won’t have to be on the Internet at all the weird hours of the night anymore, either.  Then it’ll be my choice if I’m on that late. *sigh*

Anyway, I got this weird compliment? from my supervisor.  He told me that Nard and I are the only normal people in the whole company.  What makes it even more odd is that a couple of weekends ago my parents when to JT’s yard sale where he told them he enjoyed working with me because I am one of the few WWM employees who is not eccentric.  It’s weird to get two such comments about me in only a couple weeks time.  I guess I should be grateful that people don’t hate or despise me.  However, I’m just not used to being accepted or, most especially, called normal.  I guess I’ll need to get used to it.

Tomorrow night’s theme for Doctor Who is “Villains with universal domination or universal destruction on their minds”.  I’ll be bringing Pyramids of Mars and State of Decay for my selections.  PM is the story of Sutek the Destroyer and his defeat by the 4th incarnation of the Doctor and Sara Jane Smith.  SD is the story of the Three Who Rule and their defeat at the hands of the fourth incarnation of the Doctor, the second incarnation of Romanadvoratrelundar, Adric of Alzarius, and K9 Mark II.  I have no idea, as usual, what the others will be bringing for our theme.
